A difficult night.

As a mom,one of the hardest things to see is my kids in pain or scared. Tonight Josh and Bri came out of their room after they had been tucked in,saying they heard a noise that scared them. I went in there and I couldn't hear anything. As I moved closer to Bri's bed,I could hear a very faint noise..here is how the conversation went:

Me: "It sounds like a toy with a dying battery."

Josh: "It must be a toy under Brianna's bed!"

Brianna: "I don't want something making noises under my bed!!!!" *tears well up in her eyes*

Me: "There are no toys under your bed except for legos. I'll get daddy and see if he can hear the noise."

Daddy: "There are no toys under your bed that make noise Brianna. Quiet down so I can listen again. Oh,jeez!"

Daddy saved the day by discovering the mystery noise was coming from a dying battery in Brady's cookie jar. We removed it from the room and all was well...or so we thought. Bri came out of the room crying about the bad movies in her head. It broke my heart to see her so scared. :-( I think the images were from Halloween commercials for shows like Goosebumps which is for older kids. We decided to say a prayer and then I let them see a few funny clips from Fairly Oddparents and Spongebob. Brianna said that made her feel a little better but she was still scared. So we turned on the lights in the living room and left the door open a little wider. She asked daddy to carry her to bed and she told us thank you for turning on the lights. Hopefully tomorrow night will be better.

We had a possessed Wiggles Big Red Car a few years ago.

It sounded like one of those demonic recordings that you play backwards.

Tooooot tooooot chuuuuggga chuuuugggaa biiiiiiggg reeeeedddd caaarrrrrrrr

I'm totally serious when i say it scared the crap out of me. It was just so random whenever it decided to start making noises. Mostly it would begin in the middle of the night when everything else was quiet. Yeah, that increased the creep out factor to a ZILLION!

Must have been the weekend for scary stuff for kids. My 3 year old woke up last night screaming at the top of her lungs. I couldn't get her to calm down, not even after I'd turned the light on. She kept pointing to her leg and then tried to pick up the flowers on her bed spread. She was incoherent, and couldn't tell me what was wrong.
It broke my heart seeing her so freaked out.

So sad! Emma wakes up with bad dreams sometimes, but we haven't had her worry about something in her room yet. I guess I have something to look forward too. :)

It's so sad but those stories make for cute Thanksgiving dinner memories in a few years.
