Happy Birthday Karla!

Today is my BFF/SIL Karla's birthday. She is the big 2-9. ;) Karla is married to my hubby's younger brother,Seth. We met when she came with some of the family to Salt Lake City to watch a performance of "Forever Plaid". While we didn't get to talk to each other much,I had a positive feeling that she was the one for Seth. A few days later,Seth and Karla invited Adam and I on a double date with them. We all had so much fun that night. It was like Karla and I were separated at birth. We had a lot in common and the same sense of humor. We laughed so much that night,my stomach hurt. Now that's a good time! Here is a list of some of the things I love about Karla..

1. She is funny! We have had so many good times together where we can't stop laughing. After we saw a movie one night,we were in the parking lot talking and laughing hysterically for an hour. It was one of those nights where you almost need to be wearing Depends.

2. She is generous and kind. When we lived by each other, she invited my family over for dinner multiple times. She watched my kids for me and went shopping with me at night so I wasn't alone. Also she is an awesome photographer and she gives people (including me) discounts all of the time.

3. She is very in tune with the spirit. When I was having health problems after Brady was born, she came over because she felt she I needed her. I'm very grateful she did because otherwise I wouldn't have asked for help,I would have shrugged it off.

4. She is always thinking of others. When my maternal grandma passed away,I was in California. It was difficult because I wanted to be there for my mom,to support her. Karla brought flowers and a card to my mom to express her sympathy. My mom still talks about how much that cheered her up. It makes me happy that I have a friend who cares so much about my family.

5. She is a second mother to my kids. She loves them almost as much as she loves her own kids and has taken care of them countless times. When I was pregnant and had horrible morning sickness, she would change my kids' stinky diapers. Now that is friendship! ;)

She is my BFF and long lost sister. Happy birthday Karla! Love you!!

Temple Open House and Birthday wishes

Today is my nephew's b-day. He is a funny little dude. Happy birthday Trubie!!

A few weeks ago my SIL,Jenn invited my hubby, the kids and I to the open house of the Oquirrh Mountain temple. Adam ended up having to work that night,so Jenn and my other SIL Jan rode up with us in our van. We went to dinner first and then we drove over to the temple. The kids loved seeing the temple and they were so well behaved! Once we got closer to the end of the tour, they got a little more restless because they were thinking about the cookie they were going to get. :) After we got cookies and water,we took the kids to the front of the temple to see the fountain. Brady almost fell in a few times, but he caught himself. It was so neat to see the temple with it's elegant designs and beautiful fixtures. We all had a great time. Here are some of the pictures Jenn sent me.

Deep Thoughts

I saw this ice cream when I was at the store today. "Red,White and No More Blues" huh? It also reads,"Recovery never tasted so good". Did I miss the recovery? Doesn't "recover" mean to get something back? Because I have yet to see it.

Mmmmmm, cheese fries from Outback. I loves them. Sure, they are thousands of calories but do I care? Not really..sometimes you just gotta splurge.

So you can get tacos at a port a potti now? Mmmm, delish! I could see maybe needing a port a potti after you eat the tacos, but not before.

Oh! Well in that case,I'll answer the phone!

That's really generous of you Owen, but I think I'll have to pass.

Last weekend

~Josh had a blast at his sleepover with his aunts! They ate pizza and watched the movie Tron and they decorated visors. Don't call it a hat like I did or you will get the death look. ;)

~On Saturday, the kids came inside and told me that there was a "huge" hornet's nest in the backyard. I figured it was maybe the size of quarter and I took my time going out to the backyard. Well this was no "quarter",it was the size of a football! It's like it just appeared out of nowhere! How un-observant am I? I called a guy from Monster Pest Control and now it's bye-bye nest!

~We are house hunting again. I have a love/hate relationship with house hunting...I love seeing the different places, but I hate the hassle and stress. Unfortunately all of the homes in our price range are too far away so we decided to look at condos and town homes. We looked at a few places and one of them looks promising. It's a town home with 3 bedrooms and 2 baths upstairs and a half bath on the main floor. It has an unfinished basement and a small garage. It's only 3 years old so it's in great condition and all of the appliances are included, even the washer and dryer. It's a great deal so hopefully it will work out.

~I am probably cursing myself for saying this, but Camden is such a great sleeper! He goes to bed at 8:00 and doesn't wake up until 7:30,then he has one nap in the morning and one in the afternoon. The other day he slept from 10:00am until 1:30! I've been feeling a little sluggish though,I don't think my body knows what to do with un-interrupted sleep!

~I cleaned the house for 3 hours on Saturday night. I swept and mopped the floors, cleaned the kitchen, loaded the dishwasher and vacuumed the carpets. Today, you can't even tell. The carpet looks the same as it did on Saturday night, covered with cocoa krispies. *sigh* It's a vicious cycle.

Thankful Thursday

~I'm thankful for a healthy family.

~I'm thankful that Adam still has a job in this rough economy.

~I'm thankful that I have family who are willing to help when I need it.

~I'm thankful for a wonderful bishop and a terrific ward.

~I'm thankful for the donations that were brought to my house last night. School supplies, shoes for Camden, and toiletries.

~I'm thankful to be a member of the LDS church. I have received food, diapers, clothing and shoes which has helped us so much!

~I'm thankful that I have lost 10 lbs. :D

Random Monday

~Last week Camden slept through the night, five nights out of seven! He only woke up once on the nights he did wake up. It was pretty awesome!

~I have mixed emotions about Camden being officially weaned now. While it's nice that he doesn't rely on nursing at night,I'm kind of sad that he is done nursing since he is my last baby. I loved nursing my babies and having that bond with them.

~The kids will be going back to school next month. Nanners is really excited to go to kindergarten! It will be nice to only have two kids at home for half the day. :)

~Nanners went to a sleepover with her cousins at her aunts' house and she had so much fun! Josh's sleepover is this week and he mentions it every day. He is so excited for it that he told our home teachers and the relief society president all about it. :D

~Nanners is going to a party for her cousin on Saturday and she is so excited because there is going to be a huge blowup slide there with a pool at the end of it. Fun stuff!!

~Today I am meeting my SIL for a picnic at the park. I also have to do some grocery shopping and run errands so it will be a busy day!

P.S. I don't think I said the word "excited" enough in this post. :P

The End.

Happy Sunday

I had a wonderful meeting with the bishop on Sunday morning. I figured I was being called in to talk about a calling so I was ready for that. What I wasn't ready for was when he asked how I was doing because he hadn't seen me around much. That opened the floodgates and the tears started. It was overwhelming for a few minutes and he patiently waited for me to talk to him. I told him of some struggles that I have been having and he just listened as I poured my heart out to him. He offered some guidance and suggestions that made me feel much better.

Then he mentioned the calling that they wanted to offer me. He asked if I would like to be an assistant to the Visiting Teaching supervisor. I was feeling overwhelmed at the time so I asked for some time to think about it. I have decided to accept it because I feel it will help me get to know more women in the ward. After teaching Primary for the last few years, I'm ready to do something in Relief Society now.

I left the meeting feeling completely renewed and hopeful.

I also received a few phone calls on Sunday that showed that people cared about me and that the Lord is mindful of me. It was a very spiritual day and I haven't had one of those in a long time.

Cute kiddie quotes

Brady said something to me tonight that made me giggle. He was hugging me and he said,"I love you mommy..you are the best dang mom ever."

I started thinking of other funny things my kids have said and done and I decided to post a few.
Brady -
"Oh, you gotta be kiddin' me!"
"I'm on de lebel 2 in my game!"
"Oh man,I NEBER win! stoopid game!" (I blame daddy for that one)

Brianna -
When she was two years old, she used to say, "What de heck?"
"Mommy, how come you have purple shoes? You're a MOM!
"My owies love to hurt...and then they don't hurt cuz they get diarreah" (NO idea where that came from!)
I took her to the bathroom one time and she said,"It's quiet in here....too quiet".

Joshua -
When he asked for something,we would tell him,"say the magic word" meaning "please". So from then on whenever we said,"What do you say?" he would say,"Magick word!"
He called pinatas "spank candy".
He woke me up one time to say,"Mom, would you please stop snoring? I'm trying to get some sleep!"
"Mommy, you're teasing me and making me dramatic!"
